MIAMI, FL – Perez Hilton’s family is speaking out after the celebrity blogger was taken to the hospital for psychological evaluation. An official statement from Perez’s family and team was shared on the blogger’s main website on Wednesday (Aug. 5).
“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the statement began. “We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” the note read.
Perez Hilton rose to prominence as a celebrity blogger during the early 2000s. The writer launched his main website, Perez Hilton, in 2004. The success of that site led Hilton to launch four spin-offs (Coco Perez, Fit Perez, Teddy Hilton, and Unrated Perez).
Concern about Perez Hilton’s mental state spread on TikTok this past Tuesday (Aug. 4) after the blogger reportedly began a disturbing livestream session. Many of his supporters believed Hilton was engaging in self-harm and alerted the authorities. TikTok allegedly contacted law enforcement as well and banned Hilton from the platform.
This is not the first time Perez Hilton has been hospitalized this year. The blogger suffered a medical emergency a few months ago, which led to a 21-day stay in the hospital. Perez later told his supporters how he encountered God during the experience.
“God presented Himself to me in the hospital,” Hilton shared. “And then healed me, [He] did something that I can only describe as a miracle,” the blogger told his fanbase.
“I had been calling out to God for years, opening my heart and inviting Him and now I no longer need to have faith, I no longer need to hope to believe; I know that God is real and that God loves me.”
Perez Hilton’s family and team requested privacy regarding his current hospital stay and 72-hour psychological evaluation. “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time,” the official statement shared to the blogger’s main website read. “If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can.”
