DETROIT, MI – Charity Gayle is recovering from injuries sustained in a bus accident. The Christian artist was traveling from Michigan to Tennessee on her “Rejoice Tour” when the incident occurred.
“Early Saturday morning, Charity’s tour bus was involved in an incident while traveling from Michigan to Tennessee,” Gayle’s team shared in a statement released on Sunday (Apr. 19). “The bus went off the road, over an embankment and into a ditch,” the statement read. “By God’s grace and protection the bus did not flip over and the team feels extremely blessed.”
Charity Gayle shared the dates for the “second leg” of her Rejoice Tour with her social media fans last Wednesday (Apr. 15). The ‘I Speak Jesus’ singer was scheduled for a stop in Warner Robbins, Georgia on Sunday (Apr. 19) as well as a show in Ormond Beach, Florida on Monday (Apr. 20). The artist’s team rescheduled Sunday and Monday’s concerts as well as the tour stop in Fort Myers, Florida, which was set for Tuesday (Apr. 21).
“We are diligently working with our friends at TPR and the churches in each of those cities for new dates,” Gayle’s team told her social media fans. “New dates and updates will be shared with ticket holders and followers as soon as they are available.”
Charity Gayle has gained much popularity for having songs with moving lyrics and a voice that commands the room. “My dad’s a pastor, and I grew up in a very worship filled home and worship filled church,” the recording artist said during a 2023 interview with Worship Leader Magazine. “My Gammy played the B3 Organ, my Papa and her actually evangelized, and they had records, and so I’d listen to their records growing up, and it was just incredible,” Gayle shared.
“Keeping worship sacred is doing it in the secret place when nobody else is watching and realizing that when you’re worshiping God,” Charity Gayle said when asked how she navigates as a worship leader with public notoriety. “I think understanding the weight of what it is we’re saying in worship, rather than just getting up and singing a song, realizing that you are sharing your testimony with the Lord and with the congregation.”
Charity Gayle’s Rejoice Tour is scheduled to resume in Lithia, Florida, on Thursday (Apr. 23).
