LOS ANGELES, CA – Tina Campbell of Gospel duo MaryMary has responded to her estranged husband Teddy Campbell’s request for marriage dissolution. The recording artist had words onstage at her sister and brother-in-law’s church, Cali Worship Center, on Sunday (Apr. 19).
Despite the news of Glendon Theodore “Teddy” Campbell’s plans to divorce his wife of 25 years breaking headlines last week, Tina Campbell remained hopeful about the future.
“Since the summer of 2024, I’ve been standing on Isaiah 50 – it’s either verse seven or verse eight,” the ‘Destiny’ singer said to congregants this past Sunday. “And in the New Living Translation it says, ‘Because the sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be ashamed. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do His will. And I will not be put to shame.’”
Tina Campbell went on to declare the goodness of God despite her present circumstance of marriage dissolution. “My God is still good. My God is still faithful. My God is still with me. And if God be for me, even this won’t stand against me,” she said. The singer advised congregants to “praise Him through it! And He’ll get you through it.”
Teddy Campbell filed to divorce Tina Campbell last Monday (Apr. 13). The drummer, who has reportedly been spending his time in Chicago since 2024, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for his petition.
Many fans were both shocked and outraged to learn that Teddy Campbell was the party filing for divorce because he struggled to remain faithful to his wife throughout the marriage. At one point, Teddy Campbell admitted to having affairs with up to 20 women.
Teddy and Tina Campbell’s marriage crisis was aired out on television over a decade ago when it was revealed on the Reality TV series ‘Mary, Mary’ that the drummer cheated while courting his wife and continued with the affairs after they wed in August 2000. Tina Campbell was filmed in conversation with her sister, Erica Campbell, wherein she revealed how much she was caught off guard by her husband’s infidelity.
“You gon’ keep adding people,” Tina asked her sister on the show. “I thought we had a good life just like everybody else watching,” the singer said. “I thought we was (sic) the ideal relationship just like everybody else.”
Fans have given support to Tina Campbell since learning of Teddy Campbell’s plans for divorce. “I love how she loved him in public and she’ll divorce him in public as well,” one supporter said. “‘Cause what he thought would break you, will make you stronger,” they added.
Another fan wrote, “Love you Tina! He’s making all things new for you! Bigger and better! Nothing was in vain! Because I know in the Holy Ghost your heart is pure! Your latter shall be greater! This next chapter will be overwhelming joy!”
Teddy and Tina Campbell have four children together. The former couple’s sons, Santana and Glendon Theodore II, are under the age of 18.
