Sarah Jakes Roberts Recovering From Injuries Caused By Trampoline Accident

DALLAS, TX – Sarah Jakes Roberts is recovering after an accident at her home nearly led to paralysis. The Potter’s House Church co-pastor shared her experience on Facebook this past Sunday (Apr. 20).

“Last night was scary,” Roberts told her supporters. “I was almost paralyzed, but God didn’t see fit to let that be my story.”

Sarah Jakes Roberts was reportedly playing on the trampoline with her youngest daughter, Ella, when she landed on her neck. “Instantly, I heard several pops in my neck,” the pastor revealed.

Ella Roberts called for her father, Touré Roberts, who subsequently called for emergency services. “Two hospitals, several scans, and hours later, we learned that I had fractured my neck, herniated discs, and endangered areas of my spine that could have left me paralyzed,” Sarah Jakes Roberts shared with her supporters.

“One disc up or one disc lower, and this would’ve been a different testimony,” the pastor continued. “Instead, I’ll be wearing this brace for 4-6 weeks to keep my neck stable and avoid further damage.”

Sarah Jakes Roberts is the daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes and Lady Serita Jakes. Her parents pastored The Potter’s House Church – based in Dallas, Texas – for decades before retiring last year. Bishop Jakes handed leadership of the ministry that he founded in 1996 to Sarah Jakes Roberts and her husband, Touré Roberts.

“The carpet is stained with your sweat,” Sarah Jakes Roberts wrote in tribute to her father’s efforts in ministry. “The walls rehearse your sermons. The pews have been baptized with testimonies of wanderers turned believers. There is no Potter’s House Dallas without Bishop T. D. Jakes.”

In addition to leading the Potter’s House alongside her husband. Sarah Jakes Roberts also stewards a global women’s ministry called Woman Evolve. The spiritual leader will likely take a break from both ministries while she recovers from her recent injury.

“Rest and recovery will give my body a chance to heal,” Sarah Jakes Roberts told her supporters on Sunday. “I’ll be lying low while I navigate this injury with wisdom,” she added. “I’m soaking in the presence and kindness of God and in the love of friends and family.”
