PASADENA, CA — Tasha Cobbs Leonard can rejoice once more as she is the recipient of an NAACP Image Award. The Gospel recording artist has won the award for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album for her work on TASHA.
Leonard took to social media ahead of the live broadcast to thank the NAACP for the recognition. “Thank you,” the ‘God In The Valley’ singer wrote on Instagram. Dozens congratulated Tasha Cobbs Leonard for her accomplishment.
“So deserving,” Bertha Cobbs, receptionist for The Purpose Place Church, said. “To God be the glory!” The Purpose Place Church – the ministry of Tasha Cobbs Leonard and her husband, Kenneth Leonard – also commented on their pastor’s success. “Well deserved,” the church wrote from its Instagram page.
Tasha Cobbs Leonard made waves in the Gospel recording industry in 2013 when she released Grace. The project features her rendition of the song ‘Break Every Chain,’ which was an instant hit over a decade ago. Leonard went on to release One Place in 2015 and Heart. Passion. Pursuit in 2017, which were also successful albums.
When asked about the motivation behind her latest album, Tasha Cobbs Leonard cited life experiences as the driving force behind her creativity.
“Now I’m a mother, I’m a wife, I’m a pastor. I’ve experienced different seasons of life — some high, some low,” the recording artist shared with the press. “These songs were written based off of those seasons,” Leonard revealed.
“From the grief to the heartbreak to having a new baby, having a new family, blending a family, all of those different life experiences have been bottled up into many of the songs that you’ll hear on this album.”
TASHA by Tasha Cobbs Leonard is available on digital platforms. The 57th NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 8p.m. (ET/PT).
