We don’t know the title. We don’t know when it debuts. But with Sandra Bullock, how could you go wrong? The Bird Box actress is reportedly teaming up with Keanu Reeves for a romantic thriller that some believe will be unforgettable.
Many remember Bullock and Reeves in the 1990s classic, Speed. This film is believed to have set a precedent that has yet to be exceeded by present-day movies of the same nature.
Sandra Bullock is also the main character in the Netflix hit Bird Box. The film is based on the book by Josh Malerman of the same title, which was originally published on March 27, 2014. Bullock sat down with Go in 2018 to discuss her role as Malorie in the movie.
“As a mother, I know myself how fearful I am and what I would do for my children and what I feel myself doing for my children, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” the actress shared. “To be how Malorie was was obvious to me. It made sense. Wouldn’t you do everything in your power to protect your child? This is a reluctant mother and she was willing to go this far. And it’s a story about loving each other,” Bullock said of Bird Box.
“What means the right way to love each other? I wanted a great man to be shown on film, a great father, a great lover of family. I don’t see that enough and I think we need to see it and be inspired by it. To me, it’s a film about family. It’s just about how families exist and come together.”
In both the book and the film, Malorie is challenged to lead her kids to safety after a disease causes humans to commit suicide. Individuals susceptible to such a fate hurt themselves after looking at malevolent creatures that cause them to believe death is better than life. Birds and blindness are saving graces in the story.
While it is apparently clear that Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves will not be characters in a post-apocalyptic world, the exact details of their forthcoming romantic thriller currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios are not available. Fans of these stars will just have to stay tuned to see what the studios create.
