Cesario Estrada Chavez (Cesar Chavez) was born on March 31, 1927, in Yuma, Arizona. He began working in agriculture as a child and remained a key person in the fight for farm workers’ rights until his death on April 23, 1993. 

During his lifetime, Cesar Chavez worked alongside Dolores Huerta and Gilbert Padilla to found the National Farm Workers Association. This organization later merged with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee to become the United Farm Workers Labor Union.
