Beulah Land Missionary Baptist Church Members Ask Pastor To Step Down After Alleged Assault

GARDENA, CA – Members of Beulah Land Missionary Baptist Church are calling for their pastor, Lorenz Roseman, to step down after he allegedly pushed an elderly congregant down cement steps last year. Some members of the church held a demonstration outside the building this past Sunday (Mar. 1).

ā€œI’m not the same after being hurt by somebody that you trust and love,ā€ said Elise McTaw. She was allegedly pushed down cement steps and out of a gate by Pastor Rosemen on October 7, 2025.Ā

Security footage shows the altercation that led to Roseman’s arrest the day the incident occurred. The clergyman was released two days later on a promise to appear in court.

ā€œThe whole unfortunate event began when I was informed that certain influential members, who held positions of power, might be engaged in unethical or illegal activities,ā€ Pastor Roseman said of last October’s altercation in a statement given to KTLA. ā€œAfter conducting an investigation and confirming the allegations, I removed them from their positions,ā€ the clergyman said.

ā€œWhen these individuals could not oust me through our church policies and procedures, they began to attack my character and weaponize the legal system against me,ā€ Roseman continued. ā€œHowever, judges have dismissed these suits as frivolous and lacking standing.ā€

Despite what the courts may say, members of Beulah Land Missionary Baptist Church would like to see Pastor Lorenz Roseman step down from his position as spiritual leader of the flock. ā€œHe does not get to put his hands on anyone,ā€ Dr. Ta-Taneisha Thames said. ā€œThat is not okay,ā€ she added. ā€œHe has to go.ā€

Najee Ali, a community activist with Project Islamic Hope, also commented on the incident. ā€œPastor Lorenz Roseman, as soon as you publicly apologize. I’ll stop,ā€ Ali said in a social media post on Monday (Mar. 2). ā€œUntil then I’m going to support the victim,ā€ the activist continued.Ā

ā€œYou could have killed her. So we’re not going to sweep this under the rug and move as church buisness as usual.ā€
