Do all dogs go to Heaven? This question has certainly been up for debate since the 1989 film All Dogs Go To Heaven humanized pets to the degree of giving them souls that lived on in the afterlife.
Andy Stanley may not have the answer to the question of whether or not animals go to Heaven. The pastor of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, does, however, have a philosophy about what it takes for humans to gain entry into paradise. Stanley presents his perspective in his book, How Good Is Good Enough?.
Do Good People Go To Heaven?
Stanley begins his book with the question: “Do good people go to Heaven?” He reveals that most individuals, regardless of what religion, believe that being good enough provides entry to eternal rest and peace with God. Stanley, however, doesn’t think that’s good enough.
If being good was the only criteria for going to Heaven, then the criminal who asks Jesus to remember him in scripture wouldn’t be told that he would have a place in paradise. That act of mercy alone, according to Stanley, serves as proof that entry to Heaven is not based on good works.
Stanley believes good people do not go to Heaven as it is impossible to be “good enough.” Those who accept the redemption offered by God through His son Jesus, however, have a golden ticket to go beyond the pearly gates, according to the pastor.
It’s The Clarity Of Argument For Me
I really enjoy a philosophical book that delivers a clear argument. Andy Stanley presents the main theory at the beginning of his book and walks us through why he believes the argument of Heaven being reserved for “good people” is wrong. The author wastes no time moving the concept along and smoothly ushers us into his theory of Heaven being a place for those redeemed by Jesus. This type of writing removes distractions and allows us to focus on the matter at hand.
The Message Is Not All-Inclusive
If you are looking for an all-inclusive message about Heaven, then you should certainly search elsewhere. Andy Stanley is a Christian pastor and stands firmly on the Christian principle of Jesus being the only way to God.
Who Is This For?
How Good Is Good Enough? by Andy Stanley is a great read for Christians confused about what gets them to Heaven. This is also a great read for nonbelievers who are interested in learning more about the Christian faith.
