Stephen King’s New Novel ‘Never Flinch’ Comes Out Next Year

Stephen King is coming out with a new book! Scribner Books announced the veteran author’s forthcoming tale, called Never Flinch, via Instagram on Monday (Nov. 18).

According to the book’s description, Never Flinch begins with a disturbing letter from a person who threatens to murder “thirteen innocents and one guilty.” It is up to Detective Izzy Jaynes to interpret what the message means.

Also in the storyline is women’s activist Kate McKay whose events keep getting interrupted by someone who doesn’t want her to get her message out. Are there similarities between Detective Izzy’s mystery and Kate’s issues? Fans will have to read Never Flinch to find out.

To date, Stephen King has released more than 70 books and is responsible for more than 50 films, which are based on his bestselling novels. Many deem him as the king of Horror and for good reason.

“When I write stories, I write to find out what I really think,” the author said during an interview earlier this year. Stephen went on to explain his theory about Horror and the depth of creativity available to writers of the genre.

“I had one novel called Pet Sematary that I wrote and put in a drawer because I thought nobody will want to read this. This is just too awful,” King shared. “I knew what it was going to be about, and I knew that it was going to be about a father who lost his little boy and had to dig him up and rebury him in a different graveyard. And I thought to myself, this is awful. I wanted to write it to see what would happen, but I didn’t think I would publish it.”

“And I got into a contractual bind, and I needed to do a book with my old company. And so I did, and I found out, to sort of my delight and sort of to my horror, that you can’t really gross out the American public. You can’t go too far.”

Never Flinch comes to bookstores on May 27, 2025.
