Israel Campbell Is Coming To Lawndale Library!

LAWNDALE, CA – Israel Campbell, author of Carlyle the Crocodile Who Lived on the River Nile, is coming to Lawndale Public Library this Saturday (Sept. 28). The children’s author will read his book aloud and offer signed copies of the treasured story to those who purchase the book onsite.

Carlyle the Crocodile Who Lived on the River Nile is the story of Carlyle the crocodile who lives in the Nile River during the time of Moses. Carlyle witnesses the Biblical hero’s mom place him in the river and even notices Moses’ sister, Miriam, who watches from the sidelines as her brother is carried off by the water in his basket.

At first, Carlyle plans to eat whatever is in the basket. This is, of course, before Pharoah’s daughter discovers baby Moses. In the end, the crocodile declares God’s hand to be at work, given that he is unable to get to the basket before a human comes along to save the child.

Israel’s book signing will mark the official launch of Carlyle the Crocodile Who Lived on the River Nile. To date, the book has gotten rave reviews from kids and adults who have read the story.

“Our little ones, [names redacted], were instantly captivated by Carlyle’s story,” one happy parent wrote. “They were thrilled to have one of their favorite animals as the storyteller, and it was such a fun and engaging way for them to learn about the story of Moses. This book has quickly become a favorite in our house.”

In addition to a hardback copy and digital access to the book, those who purchase the bundle package of Carlyle the Crocodile Who Lived on the River Nile on the author’s website will also receive a stuffed animal designed after the beloved crocodile.

Israel Campbell hopes to introduce a new way for kids to learn about the Bible through his Carlyle series. The second book in the lineup will be about Moses parting the Red Sea from the perspective of Carlyle the crocodile.

Israel’s book launch and signing at Lawndale Library (14615 Burin Ave, Lawndale, CA 90260) begins at 11 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The event is slated to end at around 12:30 PM. Snacks and other activities will be provided by the author. This event is not affiliated with the Los Angeles County Library System. Admission is free!
