BEDFORD, TX – Spiritual leaders are giving support to the family of Joni Lamb after learning of the Daystar Television Network co-founder’s passing on Thursday (May 7). Several pastors and televangelists responded to the news of Lamb’s sudden death.
“This is a tough one,” Cora Jakes wrote in the comments section of the Instagram post that announced the death of Joni Lamb. “Praying for all of you,” Jakes continued. “I can’t even imagine it.” Christian author David Hernandez wrote, “May the Holy Spirit bring comfort and peace. What a blessing she was to so many, what a legacy of faith she leaves behind.”
Joni Lamb passed away on Thursday (May 7) after privately battling health struggles that were complicated by a back injury she sustained a few weeks ago. Lamb’s husband, Doug Weiss, shared the news of his wife’s injury with Daystar network’s supporters last month.
“I want you to pray for Joni,” Weiss petitioned viewers near the beginning of April. “You may have noticed that she hasn’t been on the show recently. She injured her back recently, and is healing from two hairline fractures on her spine.” Doug Weiss went on to give details about Joni Lamb’s injury, which included specific locations of misalignment.
“If you’ve ever experienced anything in your spine, you know that it hurts,” Weiss told Daystar supporters. “She’s recovering, but it’s probably going to take several weeks for her to get back to where she was.”
Doug Weiss was left nearly speechless on Thursday (May 7) while expressing pain about his wife’s death. “Today, I lost my wife, Joni,” the psychologist shared on Facebook. “There are no words that really capture the weight of that sentence or the grief that comes with it,” Weiss said. “She was deeply loved, and the space she leaves behind is impossible to put into words.”
According to Daystar’s official announcement of Joni Lamb’s death,
“Prior to her recent back injury, Lamb had been dealing with serious health matters that she chose to face head on and in private. The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone had anticipated. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days.”
Joni Lamb founded Daystar Television Network alongside her late husband, Marcus Lamb, in 1993. Together, they grew the ministry into one of the largest Christian television networks in the world. Daystar Television Network currently reaches over 2.4 billion homes and more than seven billion viewers worldwide.
Marcus and Joni Lamb’s only son, Jonathan Lamb, took to Instagram to share a throwback picture of his late parents on Thursday (May 7). “Thank you for your prayers,” the podcaster wrote in the caption. “God will carry us through.”
