FORT WORTH, TX – Award-winning Gospel artist and pastor of The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth, Texas, Marvin Sapp, is engaged! News spread about the pastor’s betrothal on Monday (Feb. 23).
According to ESSENCE, Marvin Sapp proposed to La’Boris Cole, PhD, with the help of his adult children. The event was presented to Cole as a birthday party. It was not until she and her soon-to-be fiancé entered the venue that the details of the occasion began to unfold.
Marvin Sapp reportedly got on one knee to ask La’Boris Cole to be his wife. She, of course, agreed to be his spouse.
La’Boris Cole will be the second wife of Marvin Sapp. The pastor’s first wife, MaLinda Prince Sapp, passed away in 2010 due to complications related to colon cancer. Marvin revealed his desire to marry again in 2022, though the recording artist admitted that the dating scene was much different from what he previously knew.
“I’ve learned that 20th-century women are definitely different from 21st-century women,” Sapp shared with the press. “I’m just being a student in this season and really trying to learn how to navigate, how to deal with [it],” he added.
“Prayerfully, hopefully, one day I’ll find her, and we’ll live out the rest of our days and make them the best of our days.”
Marvin Sapp and La’Boris Cole were friends for more than a decade before deciding to begin a courtship. They are entering the engagement period with clear boundaries and priorities.
“I maintain the balance between ministry and family because I don’t balance it,” Marvin Sapp recently said when asked how he balances ministry with family life. “I prioritize,” the recording artist continued.
“Anything you try to balance, you can fall off of,” Sapp explained. “I prioritize above everything else my relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After that relationship, I’m a father. Then I’m a pastor, a recording artist, and an entrepreneur. My first ministry is to my family. If you get to that place, the rest of your days will be the best of your days.”
