Danny Silk Responds To Shawn Bolz Scandal: ‘I Realize My Silence Has Contributed To The Pain’

EL DORADO HILLS, CA – Danny Silk, founder and leader of Loving On Purpose Ministries, has experienced a change of heart after witnessing how much the Shawn Bolz scandal has impacted Christians in the Charismatic branch. The spiritual leader shared his heart on Facebook on Monday (Feb. 9).

“Dear Loving on Purpose Community,” Silk began his open letter. “As I watch the pain, hurt, and broken trust that has unfolded in the Christian community around the failure of leaders (including myself) to promptly warn the wider church of fraud and abuse by people like Shawn Bolz, I realize that my silence has contributed to the pain.”

Shawn Bolz was a prominent spiritual leader who claimed to get “words of knowledge” and prophecy from God. His influence significantly increased after Azusa Now 2016, as Bolz was introduced by Bill Johnson, senior pastor of Bethel Church, as a trusted friend.

Speculation about Bolz being a false prophet began to gain momentum a year after the stadium event in 2016. Bill Johnson, along with Bethel Church Assistant Pastor Kris Vallotton, received news that Bolz used social media to compose his “words of knowledge” and prophecies in 2019.

Danny Silk also knew of the accusations, along with allegations of Shawn Bolz sexually abusing his ministry’s staff members. None of the spiritual leaders warned the public, but instead informed their inner circles to steer clear of Bolz.

In his letter, Danny Silk told his ministry’s supporters that he handed the information he had about Shawn Bolz to Bethel Church’s leadership.

“In hindsight, I should not have waited for Bethel to say something. I had my own responsibility to do so, as Shawn was also on my platform at a conference,” Silk said. “I deeply regret not going public with what I knew, and apologize for my part in delaying the needed public consequences for a public minister.”

Danny Silk also used a foreword written by Shawn Bolz for his book Unpunishable. The foreword was written before Silk was informed of allegations about Bolz. Unpunishable was, however, released in 2019, after Silk learned of the accusations.

“To the victims of Shawn Bolz’s corrupt prophetic ministry, I ask for your forgiveness for participating in this public accountability taking far too long to address,” Danny Silk said when addressing supporters of his ministry. “To the victims of his sexual perversions, of whom many I have communicated with along the way, please forgive me for the hurt I have caused.”
