Hoda Kotb Returns To ‘TODAY’ As Search For Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Continues

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Hoda Kotb returned to co-anchor the TODAY show as the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, continues. The television personality, who officially retired from her full-time anchor role on the show last year, addressed the situation that has startled the nation on Monday (Feb. 9).

“We always talk about our show as a family. We are a family,” Kotb told her co-anchor, Craig Melvin, during Monday’s broadcast.

Hoda Kotb was scheduled to cover the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, but skipped the assignment to sit in for Savannah Guthrie who continues to ask the public for help with finding her mother.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Reports of the 84-year-old being abducted from her Tucson residence began to circulate on Monday, February 2, 2026. Sheriff Chris Nanos of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared his suspicion of foul play during a news conference.

“We saw some things at the home that were concerning to us,” Sheriff Nanos said. It was later revealed that a ransom note was found at the crime scene.

Savannah Guthrie responded to the note with a video message last Thursday (Feb. 5). “We are ready to talk,” Guthrie said in the video. “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive, and that you have her.”

The TODAY co-anchor released another video on Monday (Feb. 9) in which she asked for the public’s help, regardless of location. “She was taken and we don’t know where,” Savannah Guthrie said in her latest video message.

“We need your help. So I’m coming on just to ask you not just for your prayers but no matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement. We are at an hour of desperation and we need your help.”
