TUCSON, AZ – Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of the TODAY show, is ready to talk about the reported abduction of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. The television personality released a video message appealing to the person or persons who left a ransom note at her mom’s residence earlier this week.
“We are ready to talk,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video. “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,” she added. “We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive, and that you have her.”
Nancy Guthrie went missing from her home this past weekend. The 84-year-old was last seen on January 31, 2026. Sheriff Chris Nanos of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department declared the residence of Nancy Guthrie to be a crime scene on Monday (Feb. 2).
“We saw some things at the home that were concerning to us,” Nanos said during a press conference. “We believe now, after we process that crime scene, that we do in fact have a crime scene, that we do in fact have a crime, and we’re asking for the community’s help.”
A ransom note was reportedly discovered at the residence, which led the family to believe Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will.
Savannah Guthrie has taken to Instagram to ask for help from the public in locating her mother. She recently noted that time is of the essence in the matter, given the fact that Nancy Guthrie requires life-sustaining medication.
“We believe in prayer,” Savannah Guthrie said in a recent social media post. “We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,” the TODAY show co-anchor wrote online.
“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you.”
