Hi! My name is Sarie! I write Christian book reviews, give recommendations for your to-be-read list, and keep you updated on the latest Church News.

About Me

I grew up in church and learned a lot about what it means to follow Jesus there. I also learned the ways of what some now call Church Culture.

For those who do not know, Church Culture looks like:

  • Coming to church every Sunday;
  • Being the loudest person in the church (“Amen pastor!” … “Say it for the people in the back!” … “That’s good! That’s GOOD!” … and so on and so forth);
  • Putting on an awesome performance, which is better known as faking it until you make it.

Now, I’m not saying that any or all of the above constitutes you being a part of Church Culture without salvation. I’m just saying that these things alone don’t save you.

After decades of being saved within Church Culture, leaving the system for witchcraft for a few years, and then coming back, I experienced an incredible spiritual transformation on April 4, 2025 that changed everything. As a result, I no longer view Christianity from an institutional perspective.

Yes, it’s good to cultivate community through regular church attendance. Yes, you should participate in the community and not merely attend church (i.e., consider volunteering, join a small group, etc.). But you shouldn’t let those be the only things that define your faithwalk.

Jesus is at the center of all we do (whether inside the church, or outside of the four walls). The goal is for everything to revolve around Him. And so, we don’t make room for Him. We give Him everything.
