Rev. Frederick Haynes of Friendship-West Baptist Church Is Running For Congress

DALLAS, TX – Reverend Frederick Haynes III is receiving support after launching his bid for Congress. The pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church kicked off his campaign last Thursday (Jan. 8).

“For more than 42 years, I’ve served our community, standing with working families, confronting injustice, investing in young people, and organizing for real change,” Reverend Haynes shared in a post on Instagram. “I’m running because District 30 deserves better,” the pastor said.

Jasmine Crockett currently represents District 30 in Congress. She announced her bid for Senate last month. “There are a lot of people that said, ‘You got to stay in the house. We need our voice. We need you there,’” Crockett said of her decision to run for Senate. “I understand, but what we need is for me to have a bigger voice,” she added.

“What we need is not only a voice, but we need to make sure that we are going to stop all the hell that is raining down on all of our people.”

Rev. Haynes would likely agree with Crockett. He condemned congressional leaders who seem to use the office to gain wealth during a speech on Monday (Jan. 12).

“When they go to Congress, they go with one economic level, but when they exit Congress, they leave on another economic level, because they pay to play,” the pastor said. “They make Congress something where they profiteer as opposed to benefiting the people.”

Haynes has promised to champion justice and fight for the people if he wins the election. “This campaign is about championing justice, uniting our communities, and fighting for the people, for economic security, quality education, environmental justice, voting and human rights, and ethical, accountable government,” he said in his announcement.

Several social media fans gave support to Reverend Haynes in his bid for Congress. “I support this,” one follower exclaimed. “Let’s go, Pastor,” another said. “We must do better.”

The general election for Texas District 30 is on November 3, 2026.
