CHICAGO, IL – Mark Jobe is stepping down from his role as president at Moody Bible Institute. The pastor announced their plans to transition on Tuesday (Jan. 13).
“After a season of prayer and discernment, we believe the time has come to begin handing over the leadership of Moody Bible Institute to the next president,” Jobe shared. “Seven years ago, I said yes to this role with one simple goal: to leave Moody stronger, healthier, and more spiritually vibrant. By God’s grace, I believe that has been accomplished.”
During his tenure at Moody Bible Institute, Mark Jobe led the school to increase its influence. Moody went from reaching eight to 10 million people annually to impacting more than 20 million people yearly through its brick-and-mortar schools, media efforts, and publishing company. Jobe attributed such growth to the faithfulness of God.
“Serving as president of Moody has been a tremendous privilege,” Jobe told his social media followers. “Dee and I are grateful for the friendships, the mission-minded colleagues we’ve served alongside, and the countless students we’ve helped launch into ministry in the US and internationally.”
Richard Warren, chair of Moody Bible Institute’s Board of Trustees, expressed gratitude for Mark Jobe’s years of service to the school. “We are grateful to God for the passionate, gospel-centered leadership that Dr. Jobe has brought to Moody the last seven years,” Warren said.
“He has assembled a highly talented and missions-focused leadership team, challenged us to have greater Kingdom impact, and through his teaching and media ministry kept us focused on Jesus. Moody is in an incredible position to welcome our next president as we are financially stable, continue to operate without debt, and experience strong momentum and growth,” the trustee added.
“Dr. Jobe’s presence will be greatly missed, and we are asking God to bless he and Dee as they step forward in this next season of life and ministry as they return fully to local church ministry.”
Jobe and his wife, Dee Jobe, plan to fully devote their time to pastoring their church, New Life Community Church, which has multiple locations throughout Illinois and Indiana. New Life Community Church was founded in 1986. Moody Bible Institute is currently searching for its eleventh president. Mark Jobe served as the school’s tenth president.
